About BotW Map

Who makes BotW Map, where the data comes from and how your progress is stored.

What this site is

BotW Map is a free, fan-made interactive map for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It puts every shrine, Korok seed, tower, chest, quest, shop, armor piece, boss, dragon, material and animal in the game on one map that loads fast on a phone and needs no account. It is available in eight languages.

What you can do with it

Switch layers on and off, search for any place or item, filter the map down to a single material such as Silent Princess, and mark what you have found to track your progress. Shop cards list what each shop sells and for how much, and guide pages cover shrines, Korok seeds, towers, locations, bosses and armor, with a printable map for the table next to your console.

Where the data comes from

Marker positions, chest contents, shop stock, prices and armor stats come from the game files, as documented by the ZeldaMods community in its open object map and data projects, and are checked against Zelda Wiki. Quest and mini-game lists, and the official names of places and items in other languages, come from Zelda Wiki. English names are the official names from the game text.

How we keep it accurate

Because positions come from the game files rather than from hand-placed pins, each marker sits where the game puts the object. We cross-check the totals for every layer, such as 120 shrines plus 16 from the DLC and 900 Korok seeds, and leave out items that only appear in Master Mode. When a player reports a problem, we check it against the game data and fix it in the next update.

Your progress and privacy

Found markers, layers and your own pins are saved only in your browser’s local storage, so there is no account and nothing to sign up for. The site is supported by ads from Google AdSense, which may use cookies. The Privacy Policy explains what that means and how to opt out of personalized ads.

Who runs BotW Map

BotW Map is an independent project by Zelda fans. Ads pay for hosting and the time spent keeping the data up to date, which is why the map is free for everyone. Corrections, translation fixes and ideas are always welcome on the Contact page.
